Firestone Tire and
Rubber Company: The 1943
Firestone film "All out for Victory". The videos below are
individual clips from this film and provide an excellent view back 70
years ago as to Firestone's contribution to the winning of WWII.
The Extraordinary Christmas of 1935 - The story of how the Grand
Rapids Fisher Body plant came into being and the meaning of it for
the unemployed workers of the area during the middle of the
depression. An excellent historical article with photos of the
early plant.
Grand Blanc built
M10 Wolverine Restoration - Photos of an M10 during and after
restoration at the Virginia Museum of Military Vehicles. The
Detroit Diesel 6-71 diesel engines along with AC fuel filters and
Delco-Remy voltage regulators can be seen. This is what it
looked like when it came off the assembly line at the Grand Blanc
Tank Arsenal in WWII.
Four Wheeling in Wisconsin
- This webpage tells the story of FWD in
WWII and contains great information and photos.
Facebook: FWD su-coe - This FB page has lots of
information on the FWD SU-COE World War Two truck and its survivors.
General Motors:
Victory is our
Business -
Video: This is an early WWII film
from GM showing the conversion to war products. The narrator
does get a little bit carried away. But then it was an
emotional time for the country.
GM News Parade
- Video: Includes 100,000 diesel
engine being built, Airshow in Detroit, 2,500 FM-2 Wildcat, Capt. Gentile at
Aeroproducts in Vandalia, OH
- An excellent source of information on Marmon-Herrington during World
War Two.
Historic Duesenberg/Marmon-Herrington Plant - The original
Duesenberg plant in Indianapolis was purchased by Marmon-Herrington
in 1937. A small portion of it still remains at the
intersection of West Washington and Harding Streets.
The Packard Plant -
Then and Now - The old Packard Plant in Detroit seems to be one of the most
photographed of the old auto plants still around. This is the
best photo collection I have seen.
Sherman
Minutia Website - The website for everything you ever
wanted to know about the Sherman but were afraid to ask. This
is the best Sherman website for information on the M4 series tanks.
Surviving Panzers Website - The title of the website is somewhat
misleading. It probably started with Panzers but now includes
photographs all types of surviving armor from around the world.
An excellent resource for both the researcher and the enthusiast.
Myths of
American Armor - TankFest Northwest 2015 - The speaker in
this one hour video uses primary source material to de-bunk many of
the so called "truths" relating to the M4 Sherman tank during WWII.
Major War Supply Contracts 1940-1945 for Companies from K-Z -
This is two books combined so it goes K-Z, not K-Rex For
the Major War Supply Contracts there is the ability to download them
as PDFs in the Setting tab. The ability to search is lost, but
the pages read a lot cleaner and can be magnified.
